will now be the source of so much pain.
Please let me offer a suggestion.
When we are born and raised well, most of us spent so many hours, days, weeks and months in our parents arms, and our bond with them grew exponentially because of that. Our smell, our heartbeat, our voice, our temperature, all became innately familiar simply because of that simple gesture.
Please embrace this period of your life with Peanut as you did his very best days. Please hold him, diaper him, bring him with you, temperatures willing, and most importantly, remind him of how much love and gratitude your heart well up with just at the thought of Peanut.
Please give him in his time of need all that he gave you in yours.
Please MissMillie, I know you will do all those things because of course you will. Rarely do we get to say good bye on our terms, and all I mean to say is that this seems one of those.
Please know I write these words in love and empathy, I've lost cats suddenly and over time and to be honored with her last breath in my arms is as treasured a memory as her first on a nameless street in Oklahoma City when I decided to "kidnap" her from an abusive home.
I got to say thank you, I got to look into her eyes countless times and start bawling as I thanked her or remembered yet another moment that stays with me 22 years after her death. It was a safe way to learn that pain is ok. It was a safe way to experience the grieving process.
Please also know that I write these words as a child, because emotionally, when it came to dealing with things like this, I was one. Be there for the child in you to both experience this.
If anything I wrote is out of bounds, please accept my apology and know it wasn't intended.
Love, John
