3. He looks a lot like my Mr. Cat - a generic tabby, I guess; the store-brand cat.

Not that we love them any less. Lately it's been warmish (above freezing sometimes) during the day, which means Mr. Cat has been away from the porch most of the time, doing whatever it is that cats do when they aren't sleeping, but he still turns up for breakfast. One day I found Mr. Cat resting on the chair while an opossum gobbled up his leftovers not two feet away. Mr. C. didn't seem to care. Maybe they are friends.
