1. I take note of the so-called urban/rural divide regarding guns...

Some think this is black & white, that there are legitimate "uses" for guns in rural areas, but no "need" for one in cities. It's not one big shooting range in rural Texas, even during hunting season, and urban areas are not pleasant, butterfly-populated Edens. People keep at least one gun in urban areas for SD because that's where the crime is. That is a legitimate Use.

Note: El Paso has over half a million population, and Juarez which abuts it, even more.
