Branford: To the surprise of absolutely no one, Trump's position on guns has "evolved" to match that of a majority of Americans,

You're kidding. You say this seriously? absolutely no one was surprised at trump's reversal on some gun control issues? I'm sure thousands maybe millions would be surprised at his flip.

Trump on Gun Control: Limit restrictions on guns. Ban some assault weapons and extend the waiting period for purchase.
During a 2013 interview with Fox, defined himself as, “a very strong person on {2ndA}.” He believes guns are necessary for self-defense and has written that he generally opposes gun control. In his 2000 book, “The America We Deserve” Trump wrote that he supports a ban on assault weapons and a slightly longer waiting period to buy a gun.

Branford: Trump's position on guns has "evolved" to match that of a majority of Americans, and more importantly for Trump now, an overwhelming majority of Republican primary voters.

Huh?: Donald Trump .. there should be a “national right to carry” concealed weapons across the US.

The only poll I found on this was Bloomberg's old MAIG, which found that 38% opposed national ccw, 35% supported, 28% not sure. As per republicans, 50% support, 25% oppose, 25% not sure. Since you will challenge the source I will just leave it, but Branford's claim that 'overwhelming majority of republican primary voters' support it, is suspect: http://prtl-sitea-maigs.nyc.gov/downloads/pdf/polling_slides_9-12.pdf

link: {Trumps} gun policy, which also argues against expansions of background checks for gun owners – and chimes with the campaign aims of NRA

On this one Branford is demonstrably wrong, back-acewards, since every major reputable poll has overwhelming republican support for BG checks. I will give just one, another in my link has 86% repub support:

"Do you favor or oppose a federal law requiring background checks on all potential gun buyers?"
Favor Oppose Unsure/ No answer
