But the main thing is that if you are transporting firearms to a state wher they are legal (no issue with what you describe) you are allowed to transport them EVEN THROUGH STATES WHERE THEY ARE NOT LEGAL

Just don't stay over night in the state where they're banned

In general firearms need to be unloaded and in a trunk or locked case mounted in a pick up trucks bed. That takes care of 90% or so of the laws.

an Iowa to Oregon drive runs through pro-gun right states so I doubt you'll have any issues
