5. In a democracy there is no excuse for violence

and as I remember I and millions more voted a couple of months ago. Things didn't go as we might have wished but that's democracy for you.

As for demonstrating that is certainly a right. First amendment. "peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

Historically protests do more harm than good. Pisses people off. Any protest needs to respect the rights of others, such as those others using our public streets and walks to come and go.
