Seriously though it isn’t difficult if you have a clean background. Fill out a form, wait while the dealer calls to get a NICS check, pay for the purchase. I have seen the process take as little as fifteen minutes. It can be longer but less than an hour assuming the purchase is approved.
Whether you are allowed to take the gun home at that point or have to wait depends on local regulations.
