12. Even Boomers who planned for retirement

when they entered the workforce were probably not planning for $5 for a gallon of gas, a loaf of bread or a pound of ground beef. Or $2,500 a month for an apartment once a big house became too big to be able to maintain or pay property taxes on. Or a decent used car costing $20,000. If it were not for Social Security and Medicare, my wife and I would likely not be homeless, we would be dead.
