7. Nonfiction often requires an excited author

I'm the acquisitions editor for a medium-sized non-fiction publisher and it isn't just that excited authors are so much easier to work with, but almost always their enthusiasm comes through even in topics that are quite dry on the surface.
I always remind myself that there is hardly any topic that isn't important and even exciting to at least a few people.
