Many people have a book in them, but it takes a special kind of freak... [View all]

That's the start of a Bluesky post today from Gabino Iglesias, whose Bluesky profile reads:

Writer/reader/speaker/music lover/book reviewer (NPR, Locus, etc)/freelancer/photographer/PhD/New York Times horror columnist. Words in many places. I want to do all the things, so invite me!

Locus, in case you're not familiar with it, is a science fiction fanzine - well, it used to be called a fanzine, back in olden days when it was mimeographed: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Locus_(magazine)

I'd never heard of Gabino Iglesias before, though considering he has "words in many places" it's likely I've seen his reviews without noticing his name.

I couldn't help noticing his Bluesky post today, though, when it popped up under Discover rather than Follow, before I could switch over to the Bluesky accounts I follow. I thought people in this forum might appreciate it (and it applies to lots of other types of work, too).

Monthly reminder: Many people have a book in them, but it takes a special kind of freak to leave the Land of Laziness, cross the Plains of Procrastination and Insecurity Mountain, find the Blade of No One Made You Do This, and use it to cut your chest open and yank that book out.
