It's a matter of misuse, not inherent evil. Any of the E gasolines degrade relatively quickly, and are susceptible to phase separation if they sit with water.
When used with the proper tuning and care, the engines run better!

The rest of the story? The chemicals that 200proof vodka replaces, are fantastically toxic, especially to groundwater.
