That's why they cut JaMycal Hasty and Trey Sermon and kept bigger backs on the roster.* Plus, Shanahan was counting on having Trey Lance as an added runner and decoy. But then Lance and starting RB Elijah Mitchell got hurt and they needed the larger backs to run the ball.

Then Trent Williams got hurt and Kittle, Kyle Juszczyk and company had to double team the pass rush. No playmakers for Jimmy to throw to. Shanahan's little plan all went to shit.

That 51 yard field goal was a really bad decision.

I was wondering why Wilson hadn't been assigned a spy? It's customary to assign one LB or Safety to "spy" on mobile QBs should they decide to scramble. No one was near Wilson when he did and he burned the 49er defense on several plays. So there was either no spy or the one that had been assigned was Maxwell Smart.

And we thought the 49ers couldn't play any worse than they did against the Bears in Week One. Think again.
