Compton (that 49ers rookie you mentioned) did a good job pass protecting in early January. If you had bothered to read my post, you'd see that L.A. rushed as many as six defensive linemen and mixed in blitzes by safeties/corners. No one could pass protect with consistency with that pressure.

One thing about Shanahan -- you're 100% right in detecting that pattern of blowing big games. He's becoming the Marty Schottenheimer of his era.
