13. It's a mistake to believe Christianity has ever been about empathy for the sake of empathy

That’s not to say individual Christians don’t have empathy, but Christianity from day one has always been about harvesting individual Christian empathy. They collect donations under the auspices of empathy, but unlike other charities don’t have to disclose any benefit to the community or disclose where that money actually goes which commonly is for political purposes and enriching church officials. Which is not to say Christianity is unique in this regard. Skimming off the top of charitable contributions is really the oldest profession.

If anything these people are just being honest about what their true motives are.
