But he can never be happy. There is never enough. David Loy writes extensively that what we call wealth is only symbolic. Money is a symbol. The will always be someone with more, so it brings anguish instead of happiness. Same for fame and so on.

One of his books is "Money, sex, war and karma". Slightly misleading but the point is made.
