I asked a friend who has transitioned to find out for me. He told me my cat Oliver was Maury, my brother's cat. Maury died unexpectedly of an illness. He was being treated by a vet but didn't make it.
When I stayed with my brother, Maury would come into my bedroom and jump on the bed and comb my hair with his paws.
After I adopted Oliver/Maury, he started jumping on the back of my computer chair and designing new hairdos for me with his kitty saliva (oh, lovely!)
It makes a difference once you find out who your cat was in other lives. I don't know how to explain it, but it's just different.
I also found out that my cat Greenlee has been with me for many, many lives. This one I learned about myself, and may possibly have been a contact with the Akashic records on my own. Just not sure if I was accessing it or whether it came in as just a "knowing". I do know that she once communicated to me by telepathy that we had been together over and over and over. We certainly did have an understanding of each other.
I have a book I'm reading now about how to do it. I'll post the title for you later.
