But at that time, from what I've read, there were lots of men calling themselves "Christ" (Messiah) tho they were never recognized as such. Some may have had followers, but only Jesus seems to have caught on... not to be disrespectful, take that as you will. After doing comparative religious studies, it's amazing to me how much of the Bible follows (sometimes almost word for word) the mythologies of other religions of the area at the time, and prior to it. And where it wasn't word for word, an entire idea would simply be re-written so as to change from Pagan polytheism to Monotheism. Windy the Druid has an excellent series on this subject over on Substack. Most of it I already knew, but she breaks it down in bullet points and includes the language from which it was translated. Interesting stuff... at least to me, as a Seeker.
