The Power Libel: Tucker Carlson and the new country club antisemitism - ynet [View all]

There’s a new kind of antisemite in America. He doesn’t wear a swastika. He wears a sports coat. He sips whiskey, quotes Churchill out of context and claims to love Israel—until Israel fights back. His name is Tucker Carlson, and he just exposed the true soul of the MAGA far-right: sanitized, smiling and full of contempt for Jewish sovereignty.

Last week, Carlson invited Senator Ted Cruz onto his show and ambushed him with smug ignorance about Iran. Not just policy questions—basic facts. Population. Cities. Demographics. Carlson wasn’t probing for clarity. He was staging a performance. His goal wasn’t to inform. It was to humiliate. Why? Because Cruz dared to support Israel’s right to defend itself and to recognize Iran for what it is: the world’s most dangerous regime.

What Tucker offered instead was the oldest form of the country club antisemite: smug detachment from Jewish history, denial of Jewish pain and a quiet insinuation that maybe the Jews are dragging America into something it shouldn’t be part of. This is not neutrality. This is ideology with a gun holstered under the desk.

(snip)

Let’s be honest: Tucker Carlson is what antisemitism looks like when it gets a Substack and a podcast deal. He is the polished spokesperson of an American tradition that never went away—just got better at using long words. The “America First” worldview he champions is not about patriotism. It’s about retreat. Retreat from moral responsibility. Retreat from the alliance. Retreat from the truth that Jewish survival and American strength have always been linked.

And worse, he’s a revisionist—not just of Jewish history, but of Western history. The man cherry-picks Churchill quotes like a motivational speaker with amnesia. He doesn’t invoke the man who stood against fascism—he invokes the colonial aristocrat, the cigar-smoking specter of empire. Because Tucker doesn’t want to teach history, he wants to rewrite it, one tweet and smirk at a time.
