3. Bullying is handled totally internally now.

My oldest was bullied a couple of years ago when she was in grade 7. Not because she’s Jewish but she was just a target of this one kid because she was “weird.” She is autistic and has ADHD so while she’s academically gifted, socially she’s pretty much a solid 4 years behind.

Anyway, the school kept reassuring me they were addressing the issue (an issue they didn’t tell me about; my own kid did) but they weren’t really. And then they suggested my daughter be moved to another class when she screamed at the bully finally one day.

I found the kid’s mom on FB and told the a goo I was going to contact her (at this point the school had asked my daughter to not tell me the bully’s name because they were trying to handle it) and let her know what her kid was doing because it was obvious the school had not.

I was told to not speak to the kid’s mom and magically the next week the bullying stopped. I think my suspicions were correct and the school had not let the bully’s mom know her kid was being a shithead.

There’s a lot of talk in anti bullying campaigns but that’s all it is. I’ve taught my kids they can defend themselves because the schools sure as hell won’t.
