They would both have been affected, even though my dad was 10 years older than my mom.

They also both lived in an atomic fallout zone. My mom once told me that trucks used to drive around her small town, spraying DDT into people’s open window screens. My dad survived two years in a Bataan prison camp.

It probably wasn’t all psychological.
