younger, but about fifteen years ago I began to suffer from them, with it getting worse over time. Today I used three different allergy meds, which would have been unthinkable 20 years ago. (And mine probably aren't that bad compared to many. My former doctor had them so badly he often missed work--that's a medical doctor who had access to the newest and best allergy meds, presumably.)

I'm sorry you suffer from allergies. I never appreciated how awful it could be until I experienced it. It's much more than a few sneezes or a runny nose.
