Because people don't realize what their god would do.

And I know they like to say stuff about how it's Jesus not god's teaching that they follow, but isn't he just god coming down to chill with humans? And isn't revering Jesus over god blasphemous? but not because jesus is god, except that it's not the same in name so the old testament can be ignored, except that god still exists and sent his son down who is also him and oh look I've gone cross-eyed.
