We know that rejecting science is rejecting reality, but those people don't see it that way. They prefer the fantasy they find in a Bronze Age book that's most useful as a collection of stories from the eastern Mediterranean a few thousand years ago. They want to see those stories as fact mostly because that's how they were brought up and that's where they find their community.

I'm not sure you can do anything with such people beyond telling them that teaching science is part of a teacher's job and if they want them taught religion, that should be done at home and in the church.

Then wait for a mob of kids to be withdrawn in favor of home schooling. Ignorance is strength! Freedom is slavery! We have always been at war with East Asia!
