Atheists & Agnostics
In reply to the discussion: Are you atheist or agnostic? Why not be both? [View all]I always was. But lately, as I see the sheer level of damage religion does, I cant even be polite about systems of faith anymore.
I see science and faith as directly antagonistic as well. In an industrialized society that uses the fruits of science with the value systems of religion everything goes to hell. No wonder the planet is wrecked, factory farming is normalized and humans are essentially relatively enslaved still.
The other noxious aspect of this is how apparently for the worst type human (the technofascist cult engaged in trying to pull off a total coup), absence of faith in this rubbish translates to nihilism and arrogance.
It is also another argument for privacy in my book. I have an opthalmologist who is this really sweet older doctor. I dont know him very well, but I respect and like him.
I think he is Christian because his clinic has Bibles around etc. I wouldnt want him to know my views on religion.
I never got why people post online under their own names and identities. I guess it makes sense if you are in an industry monetizing your online presence.
But it makes zero sense for those of us who use it purely recreationally. I could never really take to any site except DU, because I dont like apolitical sites where you post political views like Substack or Facebook. Especially now we know how these technofascists think more overtly, but it was never that unclear to me. I never got how people were bamboozled by that blatantly phony Google liberalism drivel.
I can let loose about religion here as jfz9580m knowing that pretty much no one knows who I am except possibly my sleazy former employer or other creepy types from that shitty, spooky city - fuck those guys. I have only ever actually told four people about this handle.
I definitely wouldnt want my opthalmologist knowing how I feel about religion!
