Loners

I don't think that negates your relationship. My best friend is the best friend I've ever had or ever will have. I would imagine that her sister is her best friend; they're extremely close. It doesn't stop me from considering her my best friend. I know she loves me and will always be there for me as I love her and will always be there for her and that's good enough for me.

I'm not trying to tell you how to feel; I'm just trying to help you not feel so bad about it.



It reminds me of a woman I hung around with decades ago. We worked together and partied together for a couple of years. We even briefly rented an apartment together. I considered her a good friend and thought she felt the same way about me. Then she went into the Air Force. I wrote her a letter asking why I never heard from her and she wrote back saying that we were never friends, we were only drinking buddies and drinking buddies are not friends. I was devastated. She couldn't have hurt me more if she had slapped me in the face.
