gun culture is in full view here with a statement from the defense attorney:

"This case will definitely have to go before a jury and hopefully the Second Amendment rights of the citizens of Colbert County will be upheld."

He actually said that. To Second Amendment absolutists, responsibility for their lethal weapons is not required by the Second Amendment, and therefore carelessness and neglect are protected "rights."

This asshat and all NRA/ILA/GOA apologists are essentially saying that a 2-year old child has no business wandering into a strange bedroom and picking up a dangerous shiny thing. It is obviously the child's fault for this tragic "accident." The "responsible" gun owner had absolutely no obligation to secure a deadly weapon inside his/her own home because Freedom and Liberty.

The term "responsible gun owner" is an oxymoron for a large percentage of the purported 80,000,000 armed citizens of this country. Like all other consumer products, guns need to be regulated for the safety and benefit of ALL Americans, and until that happens children will continue to be victims of irresponsible and idiotic absolutists.
