I'm tired. [View all]

I'm really tired of the 'debate' over gun control.

Less than a third of people in the US own a gun. Only a third of them own five or more (disclaimer: I am one of them) so only 10% of the voting public seem to force their views on the 90% who don't share their fealty to the God that is a Gun.

70% of them own a gun for protection. From who? Other people with a gun.

Why? Because that 10% contribute to lobbies that buy enough of 538 legislators to pass the legislation that pleases them.

Think about that. 10% buy the loyalty of .000002% of the population to get what they want which is unfettered access to guns without restriction including military grade weapons.

How insane is that?

What does that 10% have to offer to control that .000002%? Not reason, brash narcissism and cash.

They claim that they are so powerful that THEY overturned the House and Senate in 1994 because of Clinton's assault weapon ban. Newt Gingrich launched the Contract for America that nationalized all elections, solidifying the Republican party. The Contract had 10 issues, not one of them mentioned guns. NOT ONE but they take credit for overturning 40 years of Democratic rule.

They claim that if Democrats would only embrace guns Republican would compromise.

They claim that no gun control can ever work notwithstanding the statistics that prove otherwise.

They say that the problem isn't that bad because suicides don't count as gun violence and things are better than they were 40 years ago.

They ignore that in the last 4 years deaths/100,000 have increased 40% and if the trend continues we will equal the worst level of violence in the last 50 years.

They just blithely make stuff up.

It's time to stop and have reason overcome bullshit.

Copy their tactic. Be loud and brash and insistent. Fund our lobbies.

All it takes for evil to prevail is for good to do nothing.
