who came to the Catholic church said they did so because they felt there was more substance to the Church's theology and less "let your own conscious be your guide." This is the last thing I expected to hear. The expectations are not trivial, but perhaps having the goal of meeting those expectations (even if you never meet them) is something that enhances their lives. Just speculating...
