you replace the sensor. There is a receiver that gives you up to the second BS information. I think they ar marvelous because you know what and when you can eat. It keeps a running "tally"of your BS. If you have Medicare, you can usually get one free. Free Style is the over the counter one that you can get in Walmart The endocrinologist ordered it.

You will love it. You know without the finger stick.
