Legendary WNBA Star Is Starting To Fear Caitlin Clark, Indiana Fever [View all]

Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever started off the 2024 season with an underwhelming 2-9 record. Since then, they've managed to go 11-6 and put themselves in playoff contention.

At 13-15, the Fever still have more work to do if they want to become a legitimate title contender. That being said, they're starting to play a brand of basketball that really impresses former WNBA star Sue Bird.

On the latest episode of Bird's podcast, she explained how Indiana's relentless pace could give opponents trouble in the playoffs.

"What I’ve learned in my WNBA experience is pace of play trumps physicality, it trumps size, it can trump experience," Bird said. "Because a lot of times, when you're experienced, it's code word for you're old. ... What I see in Caitlin, what I see in Kelsey Mitchell, they’re just ramming it down people’s throats. It's really hard, it can have your head spinning."

Bird later said that Clark has adjusted well to the WNBA's physicality.
