WNBA trading cards surpass NBA counterparts in value [View all]

IOWA CITY, Iowa — The latest release of WNBA trading cards is making waves in the sports memorabilia market, with prices surpassing those of their NBA counterparts for the first time.

On Feb. 12, Panini, the exclusive trading card license holder for both leagues, launched its 2024 Prizm set for the WNBA. Despite the conclusion of the league's 2024 season, these hobby boxes are currently selling for an average of $1,200 each across various retailers.

In contrast, the 2024-25 NBA Prizm set, set to release on February 19, has a presale price of approximately $800 per hobby box, Waxstat reported.

The sudden explosion in demand for WNBA cards has been fueled by the massive interest in the league’s 2024 draft class, led by No. 1 pick and rookie of the year Caitlin Clark.
