AN FRANCISCO — For most of Friday’s game against the Chicago Sky, the Valkyries didn’t look like themselves.

The usually heady, efficient team struggled to make shots, take care of the ball and string together solid defensive possessions.

But none of that mattered as Golden State escaped with a 83-78 win over the struggling Sky in front of 18,064 fans – the team’s ninth consecutive home sellout.

Kayla Thornton scored a career-high 29 points and grabbed six rebounds. Kaitlyn Chen also had a career night with 10 points. Kate Martin had 11 points.
