District Attorney Jim Garrison (Kevin Costner) meets with "X" (Donald Sutherland), a high ranking former military officer at the Lincoln Memorial in D.C. to inform Garrison of how close he's getting in his investigation of the assassination of John F. Kennedy. X's layout of a potential Coup d'état involves Kennedy's plan to withdraw from Vietnam and the collusion of the CIA, Mafia and other government agencies to assassinate the president.
