16. I admit I've got a lot of sympathy for this guy

He seems like a great beekeeper, a prosperous farmer in a tough business. He works long hours, collapses in front of his TV or computer, and gets sold a bogus bill of political goods.

I can't call him stupid because he's not.

He bought into ideology. The problem is that ideologues never think anything through to the end. They destroyed half his market because they think children, elderly and ill people, and people just temporarily down on their luck are leeches destroying capitalism. Ideologues just don't think beyond their simple solutions to complex problems and that's the mistake this guy made.

Those simple solutions can be very seductive to tired people who collapse at the end of 14 hour days and don't have the energy for much of anything else. I hope this guy manages to survive the next 3.5 years. Good luck to him, he'll need a lot of it.
