The charges are likely to be dropped eventually, but in the meantime she has to defend herself (on her own dime) - and her career as a judge is probably over, since she has to run for re-election. So the real point is to intimidate other judges so they'll be more "careful" in immigration-related cases lest AG Barbie put them through the same wringer.
