Federal workers at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) who were focused on preventing and responding to work-related illnesses, including "black lung" disease in coal miners, have been forced out of their jobs.

In an MSNBC town hall — “100 Days of Trump: Forced Out Federal Workers" — Jacob Soboroff reports from Morgantown, West Virginia where he spoke to an epidemiologist whose team conducted research to find ways to make mining safer. They also drove a mobile exam unit to the work sites in Appalachia to test the miners for disease. - Aired on 05/01/2025.
