According to Liz Cheney's book, that's the reason that only 10 House members voted yes on impeachment, despite the chaos and fear they experienced on January 6th. They were afraid of threats to themselves and their families and also threats of being primaried. Of those 10, only 2 were voted in for the next Congress. And several said that it wouldn't matter since "he'll be gone soon." And we know how that worked out.
