5. Yes it is wrong to shoot down ideas when brainstorming.

All ideas no matter how ridiculous they may sound should be discussed.

Then the pros and cons of each idea should also be discussed.

I come from a US Air Force family.
Pilots and air crews are given extensive training on how to deal with emergencies.
You stay calm, in control, in your head.
You weigh it all up and make the best cost benefit ratio decision.
You can emotionally fall apart later.

I also am a retired mental health professional with extensive training and experience
in handling serious crisis situations. You stay calm, professional, in your head and do your
job so everyone stays alive.

But most people are civilians with no training. And are all over the map.
Either pie in the sky or dooms day.

But I do not like telling people how to think or feel.
We have to meet people where they are and bring them along.

This is what is called leadership.
