However, 160 years is a long enough period that there are different culture vectors and alignments at work today. The Southeast will still be on one side of the divide, but consider that this time around, the president is a former New Yorker who was expelled from the city and moved to Florida, Austin, TX has become the new technology hub for the South, and the primary cultural opposition is coming from the West (though primarily led by tech financiers who came from the Northeast and were educated at Harvard and Princeton), this gets a lot more complicated.
