7. Peaceful moments are hard to come by

at this age under these circumstances. But I appreciate the intent in your sentence. And you're right, the fed employees will do all they can to keep it running as successfully as possible. But I think the opinion writer and I might share the experience to a lesser degree that these workers are going to be laboring under. Stress is a killer... and these people are going to be stressed to the max... not just because there's not enough workers and more are to be fired in May, but also because these civil servants know they're failing their clients even while trying their best. They've been set up in a no-win situation, and most of them are smart enough to know it. Not to mention have your career path up to now demeaned and erased. That's a soul-hurt to these workers. I pray you're right and the checks keep coming, but I also pray that they'll be able to handle the stress or be allowed to form support groups (something that's not musk-approved if past is prologue). People aren't monkeys you can set behind a keyboard and make it all come out alright, altho trump and musk seem to think differently. I've lived with a narcissistic parent and have a grown child with the same traits; nothing one does is ever enough, no matter what you do. The stress of living under that kind of strain is soul crushing.
