General Discussion

There needs to be serious, continuous talk in this country about how the hatred and the religious nonsense destroyed us. Japan couldn't do it, Germany couldn't do it, even way back, England couldn't do it. But we did it to ourselves. Took away two hundred plus years of trying to make a better world, be a better country, shine a light out into the world, set an example.

Less than one hundred days, and it's gone. The respect, the hard-won human rights, the hope that maybe we can leave things better for the next generations. Gone. We weren't perfect. Far from it. But a lot of us were trying, doing our best to bring the haters and the stupid along with us. Make them live in a civilized society, whether they liked it or not.

We're going to have to control hate speech. Get rid of monopolies on news outlets. Make people pay for encouraging hate, for acting on it, for trying to make decent people suffer.

Enough is enough. We can't have nice things when these people are allowed to just rant and rave, to be hateful, to do hateful things. Time for it to end. And yes, someone will say, who decides what's hate? Well, you know it. The Constitution forbids it. That's simple enough to figure out.
