In reply to the discussion: Trump Kept Gold Club World Cup Trophy for Himself So FIFA Had to Give the Winners a Replica [View all]Ocelot II
(125,925 posts)15. I have no doubt that this is the way it went down.
He wanted to keep the trophy - another nice big gold tchotchke for his collection - and they gave it to him because Infantino is his new BFF. From the linked article:
FIFA boss Gianni Infantino has been in Washington, D.C., 10 times since Donald Trump returned to office in January. He has previously argued that proximity to the president is absolutely crucial to the success of the 2026 World Cup, which will be partly hosted in the U.S.
It comes as FIFA last week inadvertently confirmed the cosy Infantino-Trump relationship by moving its New York employees to a new office in Trump Tower, Manhattan.

OP
He can't keep it if it's worth more than $375, but who's going to stop him from taking it with him?

Tell those divvy berks to go to The Den (Millwall's home pitch) and tell the nice lads there that they are commies.

Trump and Infantino have a lot in common, FIFA is one of the most corrupt organizations in the world.

Trump doesn't even get it: the trophy is what you receive for winning...there is no original and replica

Like the Purple Heart he snagged from that MAGA veteran...Trump actually believed he suffered a wound in battle.

This is weird, because "Infantino" sounds like a plausible nickname for Trump himself.
