(113,683 posts)I have no idea what Garland's game was, why he seemed to stall every investigation, why he did little with the things he was handed on a silver platter, all tied up with a bow.
Epstein was a different matter, an enigma wrapped thickly in a coverup, and heavily guarded in death as much as in life by an army of moneyed and/or powerful but deeply frightened men who don't want any of his story to get out. I'd like to start at the beginning: how does a college dropout from Queens end up with a teaching job at a fairly prestigious prep school? Did he ever really preside over a classroom there? What was his real job?
Answer at least some of those questions and I think the way he slid out of the humble, unqualified teacher job into the high flying, unqualified finiancier job and eventually became pimp to the plutocracy will become a lot more clear.
My guess is that it will take an obscure cholar digging through documents no one else is interested in to find all this out in a century or so.
And yes, a lot of movers and shakers read DU. They'll just never admit it in public.
