(36,329 posts)Years ago in the early 2000's I did Genocide Studies and found I couldn't deal with the horrors of the Armenian genocide, the Holocaust, the slaughter of the Herero, East Timor, colonial genocide in my own country, so I removed my emotions from what I was learning. I also learnt that successive US governments and the US people have always been reluctant to label something a genocide if it's happening in real time (Samantha Powers book 'A Problem From Hell: America and the Age Of Genocide' gives some great examples)'.
Right now after seeing photos of starving Palestinian children, I'm in no mood to deal with entitled American 'supporters' of Israel who want to get all pedantic and talk about nothing but numbers and argue about the smallest thing. Innocent children are starving and the world (excluding the US and Israel) need to do something about it. How anyone can not be horrified and appalled by what Israel is doing right now is sickening and to me those people are no better than MAGATs as far as I'm concerned. They make me sick to my core.
