Trump's pick for new BLS Commissioner has not been confirmed yet. In the meantime, Bill Wiatrowski is the Acting Commissioner. He's a long time BLS employee who came up through the statistical programs and has served as Deputy Commissioner and Acting Commissioner on several different occasions previously. In addition, Julie Hatch Maxfield is still the Associate Commissioner for Employment and Unemployment Statistics which oversees the jobs report. She has spent her whole career at BLS working in the CES (jobs) program eventually moving up to upper management overseeing the program. I know Bill & Julie and can say unequivocally that they will NOT falsify numbers. They are good honest people. The numbers will come out on time and they will be legit. What happens after this month remains to be seen, but as long as Bill & Julie are running things, the data will be legit.
