I/we do not condone this lowering of expectations nor the violence. But for sure there are people and political entities that are due some blame. I am reminded of the republican Georgia election official who warned against this kind of diminishment. Back in 2020.
In a prescient and heartfelt warning against GOP silence re violence and rhetoric, his summary was that '...All of you who have not said a damn word are complicit in this.' There are very clearly people and organizations that deserve an outsized share of the blame for their rhetoric and their silence. I will also place blame on MSM outlets which do not remind us of these differences and of the many warnings such as the one below.
