(5,123 posts)103. Just to be pedantic, a competitive shooter would do a lot better than a golf ball
Google says a golf ball is 1.7" in diameter, which @200y is 0.85MOA (minutes of angle, the most common measure of shooting accuracy) - anyone reasonably competent equipped with a good rifle can pull that off. I have (shooting paper), and I'm hardly Craig Harrison.
A sniper or target shooter at 200y, with a properly accurized rifle, should be able to easily dip below 0.5MOA
that's the size of a quarter.

Universities exist in communities, counties, and states; and in this case those are red.

There are lots of universities in red cities. Look at Texas Tech in Lubbock. Look at South Texas State.

I find Maru Kitteh's observation interesting in its observed specificity. Especially after watching the video.

Yeah, that's consistent with a low shot taking out the soft tissues in his neck

It's not that hard of a shot. Plenty of DU'ers here could do it, even those without military training

Not only the weapon had to be accurate, but the SCOPE on it had to be also.

I agree. However, often they are often extreme to the point that they don't make sense to the average person.

Orem is only 39 miles from Salt Lake City. There is a chance this person was not even a student on this campus.

Your speculation is off base. Are you saying that only Republicans know how to shoot a rifle?
