(5,124 posts)I just measured myself, from my solar plexus to my chin is 12". That's an absolutely MASSIVE miss at 200 (wasn't it more like 175?) yards; I haven't seen a lot of detail about the elevation but what I have seen it doesn't look like it so extreme that it would throw things off that much
looking at the charts, a 20% depression at 200 yards is an effective range of 188 yards, which plugged into a ballistic calculator (with some assumptions about the rifle) is only going to hit about an inch high.
I also measured from my temple to my throat, which is a shade under 4". Looking back at the ballistic calculator, a rifle zeroed at 100 yards, with the same 20% depression, would hit about 3" low at 200 yards
seems a lot more likely to me that the shooter had a rifle set to 100 and in the heat of the moment forgot to hold over, rather than aimed CoM and missed by a solid foot.
