It is a well known song, but the reason 20year old kids know it is Far Cry. Much like my generation knows Ride of the Valkyres due to Bugs Bunny.

TBH: I just assumed it was an Italian folk song. I never knew the significance or anything...

It's like mariachi or Tejano music. I don't know what the heck most of it is about, but it's super ubiquitous here. It's everywhere. Some Tejano music is about drugs, but I couldn't tell you if it was a song about drugs or love because I don't understand much Spanish, let alone understand lyrics to music.
