7. I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon in my neighborhood.

For a long time most of my neighbors have suffered Comcast or AT&T internet service over direct-buried not-in-conduit cables that predate residential internet service. Neither company seems interested in upgrading their basic infrastructure.

We recently got 5G wireless internet service here and I expect many of my neighbors will simply switch to that as part of their cell phone plans. Basic service runs $30 to $50 a month for nominally rated 100 Mbps service. ( There is, of course, an asterisk... )

I've never used Comcast or AT&T as an ISP. Because of aggressive corporate marketing most of my neighbors were unaware that other options were available.

Looking at the gatewayfiber website I see 300 Mbps offered for $65 a month. Given a choice, that's probably more than I'd be willing to pay for internet service.
